Insurance:
For your peace of mind, we offer comprehensive insurance and unlimited mileage with all our rentals. We also have the option of 3rd-party insurance with a 10% excess on damage. We do however recommend that you take out our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) coverage option.
Fuel:
We have had some unfortunate times of fuel shortages in Malawi. During these periods, petrol stations can occasionally run dry. We suggest that you refuel whenever you see a petrol station with fuel, especially before heading into remote areas. Upon request, we will supply you with additional fuel cans though this is always not necessary.
Night Driving:
Avoid driving at night please. Malawi roads often lack lighting, and hazards like pedestrians, livestock, and unlit vehicles are common after sunset.
Driving Permits:
A valid home country driver’s license if sufficient for driving in Malawi. You need to be at least 21 years old and have held a valid and clean driver’s permit for the past 2 years.
Pro Tip:
If you’re crossing borders (e.g., to South Luangwa in Zambia), ensure that we give you interpol clearance documents as well as the COMESA Yellow insurance Card .
